Courses · AI champions

When the answer is your own people

Most of the value in AI for a business under a few hundred staff comes from the people who already know the work using the tools well. The champions programme takes the people you choose, spends a day's worth of time with each of them on their own recurring work, and leaves the capability inside the business.

Learned on the work, at the desk

Nobody learns a tool from a slide. Each champion gets about a day's worth of time, spread across sessions to suit their availability, on their own tasks, with their processes mapped as we go.

  1. 1Pick the champions
  2. 2A day each, across sessions
  3. 3The group session
  4. 4Follow-up, on us

Before day one you choose the champions. If a rollout is under way they come from the teams it reaches first, whatever their seniority, and each brings the recurring work that eats their week.

The sessions are hands-on, on the tools you already pay for, Copilot first, used on each champion's own work: drafting, summarising, reconciling, reporting. Along the way comes judgement: what to check, what never to paste in, how to write a brief an assistant can act on, when to stop and ask a person. The governance policy becomes something they have practised.

The programme runs over two weeks and finishes with a group session where the champions confer on what they learnt and what it means for the business. A week later we run a follow-up group session to answer every question that has surfaced once people have had time to use what they learnt. That session is on us, and a further cohort is available at the same rate whenever you decide.

  1. 01

Named champions in the teams that matter

Chosen by you, usually from the teams the rollout reaches first. Each one can carry the tools into their own team as the wider rollout lands, and other staff go to them first with a question.

  2. 02

Their processes, mapped as we go

The training is built on each champion's own recurring work, and their processes are mapped along the way, so the business ends with a record of how the work is done as well as people who can do it better.

  3. 03

    A governance policy in use

The acceptable use policy stops being a document and becomes a set of habits: what to check, what never to paste in, when to stop and ask a person.

  4. 04

A group session, and a follow-up on us

The programme finishes with a group session where the champions confer on what they learnt and what it means for the business. A week later we run a follow-up session to answer everything that has surfaced once people have used it. That session is on us.

Handed over at the follow-up session, a week after the group session. Nothing here needs us to keep running.

More output from the team you have

The businesses we work with are trying to survive a high cost environment with the people they have. The champions programme is built on the view that those people, given the tools and the judgement to use them, are the best AI investment the business can make, and that the work left to them afterwards is the work that needs a person.

It also makes every later decision better. A team that has used the tools on its own work knows where an AI Employee or a build would be worth it, and where it would not.

Our position on the dignity of work. Agents extend what your team can already do, and your people keep the roles they hold. The full set of commitments is on the ethics and governance page.

How the programme is priced

Priced per champion

Quoted in writing after a thirty minute conversation

Champion training is priced per champion, quoted in writing after a conversation about your team and your tools, in Australian dollars, with GST stated. The follow-up session is complimentary.

A further cohort is available at the same rate whenever you decide to proceed, and the second cohort is usually taught with the first one's champions in the room.

Questions we get asked about the programme

Champions chosen by you, sized to the business: five is common, ten for a larger one. They usually come from the teams a rollout reaches first, whatever their seniority, and each brings the recurring work that eats their week, because that is what the training is built on.

About a day's worth of time with each champion, spread across sessions to suit their availability, over two weeks, with a group session at the end and a follow-up a week later. Nobody learns a tool from a slide, so the sessions run on the champion's own work.

The tools you already pay for, Copilot first, set up properly and used on the cohort's own work: drafting, summarising, reconciling, reporting. Where the business runs other tools, the programme is shaped to them.

The champions are usually the people who go on to write position descriptions for AI Employees and to sign off on their work, because they have seen what the tools can and cannot do. Many businesses run the programme first and place their first agent after it.
